  The European Parliament granted the board of directors of the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions discharge for the implementation of its budget for the 1993 financial year. In its decision granting discharge, Parliament took note of the figures in the Foundation's accounts (which reported income of ECU 11,564,999.71 in 1993) and recommended that a part-time financial controller be appointed in order to reduce excessive recourse to the imprest account. It called on the Foundation's board of directors to improve the individual project costing and control systems and evaluation procedures (especially with regard to the profitability of projects). At the same time, the European Parliament felt it was essential to ensure that the Foundation's activities did not overlap with the activities of other Community bodies with similar areas of jurisdiction, which is why it called on the Commission to submit a report to it by 31 August 1995 on the integration of Union activities in the Foundation's area of jurisdiction, accompanied by any proposals to enhance the complementarity of its activities. Finally, Parliament called on the Commission to report to it by 12 May 1995 on the results of its examination of the Irish government's proposal regarding ownership of the land on which the Foundation's new building is located.�
