  OBJECTIVE: to amend and update the Community Regulations on social security for migrant workers, consolidating them in a single official version. SUBSTANCE: since the entry into force of Regulation (EEC) No 2001/83, which amended and updated in a single and official text Regulations (EEC) Nos 1408/71 and 574/72, following the extension of their scope to self-employed persons, these regulations were amended by Council Regulations (EEC) Nos 1660/85 and 1661/85, Commission Regulation 513/86 and Council Regulations (EEC) Nos 3811/86, 1305/89, 2332/89, 3427/89, 2195/91, 1247/92, 1248/92, 1249/92, 1945/93, 3095/95 and 3096/95, and by the Acts of Accession of Spain and Portugal of 1985 and of Austria, Finland and Sweden of 1995. In these amendments account could be taken of the practical experience gained in their implementation in order to improve the workings of coordination and of certain formal, substantive and administrative amendments that had been made to national legislation, and of the successive enlargements of the Community. The proposal is solely intended to consolidate the various texts and present them in a single and accessible version. �
