  Adopting the report by Mr Gianfranco DELL'ALBA (ARE, I), the European Parliament amended Rule 154 of its Rules of Procedure. Under the terms of this Rule, the European Parliament is required to draft a report on its activities for the attention of the parliamentary assembly of the Council of Europe. This proposal has not been applied once since 1969 and now that close cooperation reports with the Council of Europe have since been introduced in a different form, Parliament has amended this article so that its parliamentary committees are now required to cooperate with their counterparts in the parliamentary assembly of the Council of Europe in fields of mutual interest. The aim is to improve the efficiency of the work of the two assemblies and avoid duplication. The Conference of Presidents of the European Parliament, in agreement with the competent authorities of the Council of Europe, will decide the arrangements for implementing this cooperation�
