  OBJECTIVE: amendment of Annex II of the Staff Regulations of Officials of the European Communities (Staff Committee) so that the term of office of the Staff Committee can be extended from two to three years. SUBSTANCE: in view of the number of statutory and managerial constraints (size of the Community institutions and the dispersion of its departments in Brussels) associated with the organisation, management and progress of the Staff Committee elections, the Commission proposes that this Committee's term of office should be extended from two to three years, without this preventing the term of office being set for a shorter period (minimum one year). �
