    PURPOSE : to present the initiative of the Kingdom of Sweden with a view to the adoption of a Council Decision amending the Decision of 29 April 1999 extending Europol's mandate to deal with forgery of money and means of payment. CONTENT : in its Decision of 29 April 1999, the Council extended Europol's mandate to deal with forgery of money and means of payment, as defined in that Decision. On 29 May 2000, the Council adopted Framework Decision 2000/383/JHA on increasing protection by criminal penalties and other santions against counterfeiting in connection with the introduction of the euro. The definition set out in Article 2 of the Decision of 29 April should be brought into line with Framework Decision 2000/383/JHA. Therefore, Article 2 of the Decision shall be replaced by "the term forgery of money" shall cover the acts defined in Articles 3, 4 and 5 of Council Framework Decision 2000/383/JHA.�
