summary
The European Parliament adopted the resolution by Mrs Glenys KINNOCK (PES, UK) on the basic education in the context of the UN Special Session on Children to be held in September 2001. (Please refer to the previous text). In addition, the House is calling for a Global Initiative on education and the immediate delivery of $ 4 million a year to help the poorest countries to provide full primary education. The Commission is called upon to submit a proposal for a Directive to the Parliament and the Council which serves to break the link between aid for the education sector and aid intended to finance the supply of goods and the provision of services within the framework of EU aid programmes. �
