  The European Parliament rejected by 54 votes in favour, 411 against and 43 abstentions three initiatives of Ireland for Council Decisions adjusting the Europol staff regulations and basic salaries.   PURPOSE : to adopt a Council Decision adjusting the basic salaries and allowances applicable to Europol staff. PROPOSED ACT : Council Decision (Initiative of Ireland). CONTENT : this draft initiative aims to adjust the basic salaries and allowances applicable to the Europol staff. In light of the review of officials of Europol by the Management Board which took account of the changes in the cost of living in the Netherlands, as well as of the changes in salaries in the public service in the Member States and in accordance with Council Decision of 5 June 2003 adjusting the remuneration of officials as from 1 July 2002 (CNS/2003/0806) was unable to take correct account of the trend in the net remuneration of French civil servants and a correction of the trend in the changes in the cost of living in the Netherlands, the said review justifies an increase of 0,9 % of remuneration for the period between 1 July 2001 and 1 July 2002. It is for the Council, acting unanimously, to adjust the basic salaries and allowances of officials of Europol, on the basis of the review.�
