  The European Parliament adopted a declaration – signed in accordance with Article 116 of its Rules of Procedure by 371 MEPs – calling on the Commission, Council and the European Central Bank to recognise the need to rapidly proceed with the issuing of 1 and 2 euro banknotes. Given that many citizens are still unhappy about the euro and in view of the impact which the absence of 1 and 2 euro banknotes has on people's perception of how much the equivalent coins are worth, Members consider that the issuing of 1 and 2 euro banknotes would have a positive impact on inflation and keeping the cost of living under control. This declaration, accompanied by the names of the signatories, will be transmitted to the Council, Commission, European Central Bank and to the governments of the Member States.
