summary
PURPOSE: to present a proposal laying down the principles governing the organisation of veterinary checks on animals entering the Community from third countries (codified version).PROPOSED ACT: Council Directive.CONTENT: the purpose of this proposal is to undertake a codification of Council Directive 91/496/EEC laying down the principles governing the organization of veterinary checks on animals entering the Community from third countries and amending Directives 89/662/EEC, 90/425/EEC and 90/675/EEC. The new Directive will supersede the various acts incorporated in it. This proposal fully preserves the content of the acts being codified and hence does no more than bringing them together with only such formal amendments as are required by the codification exercise itself.
