  The European Parliament adopted a decision electing Nikiforos DIAMANDOUROS to serve as European Ombudsman. The latter was elected by 340 votes to 289 for Pierre-Yves Monette and 19 for Vittorio Bottoli.Parliament requested Mr DIAMANDOUROS to take an oath before the Court of Justice.
