This strategy must provide a coherent framework for sustainable forest management having in account their role in the fight against climate change and biodiversity loss.

Underlines that a substantial part of the investments needed to meet the ambitions outlined in the European Green Deal will have to come from public national and sub-national budgets; urges therefore the Commission to revise the EU fiscal rules with a view to removing barriers to public sustainable investments and allow the EU to fully seize the opportunity presented by low or even negative interest rates, to substantially increase green investment including by spreading the amount of the investment expenditure over the lifetime of the gross capital formation for public sustainable investments compliant with the requirements under the Taxonomy Regulation;
